We’re Austin and Kayla. We build things, inspect things, and live in a house that’s perpetually under renovation.
We’re based in Alstead, NH, and between the two of us we’ve been swinging hammers, running job sites, and figuring out how houses work for the better part of two decades. Resonant Homes is the shape that work has taken — home inspections across New Hampshire and Vermont, and a small number of carefully chosen design-build and contracting projects close to home.

Austin Reida
Austin has been a self-employed contractor for over twenty years. He was also a NH licensed septic installer, and for many years a local firefighter and EMT — so reading situations quickly and explaining them clearly is something he’s been doing a long time. The decision to add home inspection to the business wasn’t a pivot so much as a natural evolution. After two decades of building, framing, doing site work, and fixing what other people missed, it made sense to put that knowledge to work in a way that’s directly useful to people navigating the home buying process.
Kayla Reida
Kayla came to the trades by way of a music education degree from Berklee College of Music and a nutrition degree from Keene State — not the most direct path to becoming a carpenter, but it suits her. She’s someone who loves creative, challenging, hands-on work, and it turns out building and inspecting fits that description better than most careers.
She has been building full time for years and is a skilled carpenter in her own right, and she’s a licensed home inspector in NH & VT. She’s meticulous, thorough, and difficult to rush, which happens to be exactly what you want in someone going through a house on your behalf.

How We Work
We’re partners in this, not an inspector and an assistant. We both inspect, we both write reports, we both schedule and manage the work, and when you call the business number it rings on both our phones — you’ll get whichever of us is free. Most inspections are done by the two of us together, and two people never quite see the same house. Every one we do as a team comes out better for it.
Why We Do It This Way
The long-term plan for Resonant Homes has always been intentional. Right now we’re integrating the inspection and contracting work together, building a business with two complementary sides that reinforce each other. As the years go on, the plan is to shift the balance toward inspection work — something that draws on everything we’ve learned from construction, is meaningfully useful to clients, and is a little easier on the body than framing houses in January.
We’re not trying to grow into a large company. We had a much bigger company before, and downsized quite intentionally because it felt right. We take on a limited number of contracting projects each year specifically so we can do each one well.
Where We Come From
We both have deep roots in New Hampshire, with family here and a real love for this part of the world. We live in rural Alstead in a fixer-upper we’re slowly, deliberately working on — surrounded by chickens, ducks, guinea hens, three dogs, four cats, and a vegetable garden that’s always more ambitious than it should be. We spend our time outside when we’re not working. Hiking, paddling, traveling when we can, and being part of the community of Alstead and the greater Monadnock Region. This place isn’t just where we work. It’s home.
Working With Us
If you’re buying a home in New Hampshire or Vermont, you’ll get an inspection from two people who have made their living building and repairing houses. If you have a construction or renovation project in the Monadnock Region, reach out and tell us about it. We’ll be honest about whether it’s a good fit.
